Every Saga
What every model shares, whichever range it covers
E Ink display, status LEDs
Alarm state, current, minimum and maximum temperature readable on the unit itself.
Rechargeable NiMH, not dangerous goods
At least 70 charge cycles. Charged and backed up over the attached USB-A cable.
Automatic flight mode
Approved by over 200 airlines. IATA, FAA and EASA compliant.
Global 4G, 3G and 2G
Location with every report, by cellular triangulation and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi detection. Geofences from 250 m to 15 km.
150 days of memory
21,600 readings at 10-minute intervals logged on the device, and reported once it is back in coverage.

Questions about Saga devices
What network do Saga devices use?
Saga devices report over the cellular network, on 4G, 3G, and 2G, roaming globally. Location is resolved with every report from cellular triangulation and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi detection, so it does not depend on a satellite fix. Saga Card, the credit-card format piloting from Q1 2027, uses LTE-M and NB-IoT. There is no gateway, reader or short-range network to install at either end of a lane.
Are Saga devices reusable?
Yes. Saga is a reusable device on a rechargeable cell, not a single-use logger. Controlant runs the return logistics, recalibration and charging as a managed service, and a device dashboard shows what is in circulation, its health status, its recalibration due date and its usage.
What temperature ranges do Saga devices cover?
The family covers −200 to +50 °C. Saga-P Standard covers −20 to +50 °C, Saga Arctic covers −30 to +30 °C, Saga Dry Ice reads to −95 °C through the PR-T80 probe, and Saga Cryogenic reads to −200 °C through the same probe. For each model's calibration points and accuracy, see its datasheet and the comparison above.
How long does a Saga device run between charges?
On the 2500 mAh cell shared by three of the four models, 20 days at a 1-hour wake interval and over 110 days at 24 hours. Saga Arctic uses a 1200 mAh cell and runs 10 days at a 1-hour interval and over 55 days at 24 hours. The device's NiMH cell is not classed as dangerous goods and recharges over the attached USB-A cable.
Are Saga devices approved for air freight?
Saga devices are approved by more than 200 airlines, and are IATA, FAA and EASA compliant.
